Romeo A. Quini, M.D.


Biography

Dr. Romeo Quini is a natural born Filipino who finished his medical degree from University of Santo Tomas (UST> Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in 1956. He pursued further training in the United States of America specializing in thoracic and general surgery serving as instructor in Anatomy and clinical surgery in Mercy Hospital-Stritch Loyola medical School in Chicago.. Illinois, U.S.A. While practicing as a solo surgical specialist in San Diego California, he became proficient in Chinese acupuncture with personal teachings from an original Chinese Acupuncturist. In 1980, he pioneered the use of acupuncture as an anesthetic for surgical removal of a woman's thyroid gland. The operation was performed at College Park Hospital in San Diego CA. He further pursued the studies and practice of other modalities of Alternative Medicine like Homeopathy. Chinese pulse diagnosis. Kinesiology. Herbology. Prolotherapy. Mesotherapy. and skin peeling. After more than 40 years of surgical practice in San Diego California, he devoted his time to integrated medicine which is the utilization of the best non-invasive practices of western medicine combined with different modalities of alternative medicine. With this background, he was appointed in the faculty of California Institute of Human Sciences, a graduate school in Encinitas California where he teaches PhD candidates and students pursuing Masters Degree. While practicing surgery in San Diego, California U.S.A. he spent several weeks twice a year or more, as a surgical volunteer in remote areas in the Philippines. He is still active with these missions (2008). He also pioneered the application of laser energy at acupuncture points. With laser pain management, pain control without medications can be done. Since 2005, he's been doing a clinical trial on the blood sugar low­ering effect of low level laser therapy on diabetic patients. His earnest desire to share this knowledge and skills geared him to­wards the publication of this book and the production of the necessary equipments.
