Atty. Ella Dumlao-Escalante, an accomplished lawyer and zealous educator, started her legal career at the Court of Appeals right after passing the bar examinations in 2003. She serves as Chief of Staff of her guru and mentor, Justice Japar B. Dimaampao. Atty. Ella, as she is fondly called, tested the academic waters when she first taught at the Manuel L. Quezon University in 2004. Since then, she has been a much sought-after professor and bar reviewer in Commercial Law. At present, she teaches at University of the East and University of Sto. Tomas, her alma mater, where she also graduated cum laude in college. In her desire to help her students, Atty. Ella tirelessly inculcates in them a deeper appreciation of the law, and nurtures their hearts and minds with the values of discipline and hard work to prepare them for the bar examinations and life beyond the walls of the classroom. Outside of her work in the judiciary and the academe, she remains a loving and supportive wife to Jessan and a doting mother to Erin Jessica and Ethaniel John. Born to physician parents, Edgar and Edith, now both deceased, Atty. Ella proudly hails from Gloria, Oriental Mindoro.
