ANTONIO V. VIRAY is a corporate lawyer by training and experience. The foundation for his legal training started with the Preparatory Law Diploma (Associate in Arts) from the Colegio de San Juan de Letran where he graduated as Valedictorian of Class’57. Hi legal education was formalized at the University of Sto. Tomas Faculty of Civil Law where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws as Valedictorian Magna Cum Laude Class ’61.The highlight of his legal training was a Master of Laws Degree from the Northwestern School of Law at Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A., Class’63. He was a full scholar throughout his legal studies, including a Ford Foundation Fellowship Grant for the masteral degree. Legal profession started as a litigation lawyer for the then Feria Feria Lugto & Lao Law Office (now Feria Tantoco Daos). But litigation was short lived as he became a thrift banker lawyer, then a universal banker lawyer. He was Senior Vice President Head of Legal Deparment and Corporate Secretary of Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank). When Metrobank acquired PSBank, he was recruited as General Counsel of Metrobank, later to become Senior Vice-President, Corporate Secretary and Director of the Bank. He is presently Corporate Secretary of the conglomerate GT Capital Holdings, Inc., Chief Legal Adviser of the Bankers Institute of the Philippines (BAIPhil) and Of Counsel of Feria Tantoco Daos Law Firm. He has earlier authored the Handbook on Bank Deposits, Casebook on Banking, Checks, and Legal Essays on Banking. This book is his way of sharing, under the auspices of the Feria Tantoco Daos Law Firm, his knowledge of and experiences with close corporations. The author affectionately acknowledges the loving inspiration and support of his wife, Concepcion Tirol Viray, throughout his professional career and in writing this book.
