Presently, Atty. JOSEPH G. ROMANO is an Assistant Provincial Prosecutor in the Department of Justice. His pre-law course is B.S. Customs Administration. He passed and placed fifth in the 2003 Customs Brokers Licensure Examination. On July 15, 2004, he was invited by the Commissioner to apply and serve the Philippine Bureau of Customs. He worked in the Bureau in different capacities such as Inspector, Examiner, Legal/Hearing Officer, Acting Assistant Chief, and Task Group head. He received various awards and commendations during his employment in the Bureau of Customs. In 2006, he completed his Masters Degree in Management. While he was Examiner, he attended Law School and eventually became a lawyer. He completed his Bachelors of Law at Arellano University School of Law and passed the Bar Examination given on the same year. He was also designated as Hearing and Legal Officer assigned to handle protest cases, seizure/forfeiture cases, abandonment cases, tariff and customs cases, and served once as one of the consultants to the District Collector. On December 20, 2013, he was designated as Asst. Chief of the Piers and Inspection Division in Port of Manila and concurrent Head of the Port Utilization Section. Atty. Romano was a faculty member of Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila. He was also elected twice for Vice President for Government Affairs position of the Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc, an accredited professional organization of the Professional Regulation Commission. Before he decided to join the DOJ-National Prosecution Service, Prosecutor Romano is a Consultant of Romano & Romano Law & Consultancy Office, an indirect tax expert and active member of Philippine Jaycees (JCI). Prosecutor Romano was nominated for the Chairmanship position, Professional Regulatory Board for Customs Brokers (PRBCB) Professional Regulation Commission, but due to COVID-19 pandemic, he decided to remain as public Prosecutor.
