Nick Deocampo is a distinguished Filipino filmmaker, film historian, author, and educator, currently serving as an associate professor at the University of the Philippines Film Institute and director of the Center for New Cinema. A filmmaker and film historian whose love for cinema took root in his love for poetry, it was through poems that he first visualized his world and the desires it evoked—an influence that continues to shape his creative and scholarly work. Widely recognized for his contributions to film scholarship and documentary filmmaking, he has authored award-winning books on cinema history and film literacy. A recipient of prestigious international fellowships, he earned his Master of Arts in Cinema Studies from New York University under a Fulbright Scholarship, trained in France as a government scholar at the Atelier de Formation au Cinéma, and later served as an international senior research fellow at the U.S. Library of Congress.
