RTC Judge Jose Arzadon Quimboy obtained his political science degree and education units, Cum Laude, from the University of Pangasinan in Dagupan City in 1986. He passed the Professional Board Examination for Teachers (PBET) with a score of 84.57%. He taught in public schools in Dagupan City until he took a law course at San Beda College and University of the East, finally earning his degree in 1996.
After passing the 1996 Bar Exams with a rating of 81.80%, he commenced to the practice of law as an Associate Lawyer of Rivera Santos and Maranan Law Offices in Ortigas Center, Pasig City. He then completed a Manager’s Course at the University of the Philippines Institute for Small-Scale Industries in Diliman, Quezon City in 1999.
In 2003, he practiced law for the Land Bank of the Philippines in Manila, until his promotion as Legal Manager in 2014. He finished his Pre-Judicature Program which the Supreme Court and the Philippine Judicial Academy jointly sponsored; he took the Comprehensive Examinations and passed with a 83.30%. In 2014, he joined the Philippine Judiciary as the founding Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 94, Mariveles, Bataan, where he is at present a Vice Executive Judge. He likewise served as Acting Presiding Judge at the Regional Trial Court, Branch 73, Olongapo City.
A member of Lex Talionis Fraternitas Inc., Judge Quimboy received a Bedan Recognition Award in 2015 for “exemplary service in the field of law and embodiment of the Benedictine ideals of prayer, work, and peace.” He likewise received a Service Award in 2017, for “exemplary work ethic and performance as well as commitment and dedication to the legal profession” from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Zambales Chapter, and a Gawad Molay Pangasinan in 2019 for “being a role model for young DeMolays.” from the DeMolay Alumni Association of the Philippines, Dagupan City Chapter.
He was an Assistant Professorial Lecturer at the De La Salle University and De La Salle-College of St. Benilde in Manila. He teaches law at the Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation and University of Pangasinan-PHINMA. He wrote a legal documentary on just compensation cases that was published in the Supreme Court Reports Annotated (SCRA) , Volume 676, and The Lawyer’s Review.
