Description
The Ombudsman Law of the Philippines presents an in-depth legal study on the extent of powers and authority of the Ombudsman. It is noted that there are very few legal materials on the Ombudsman Law. Over the years, jurisprudence has defined the parameters of the Ombudsman’s powers. Since the law creating the Ombudsman was first enacted, the Ombudsman and the law creating it have faced numerous legal challenges. This book is a compilation of the resolution of those challenges. Up until recently, the jurisdictional authority of the Ombudsman has remained uncertain and always subject to challenge. Indeed, the jurisdiction of the Ombudsman over judges and its jurisdiction over officials of government-owned and controlled corporation without original charter remain in contention.
In addition to jurisdictional matters, procedural concerns are also discussed in the book. From the filing of complaints to the filing of appeals, many lawyers are ill-informed about the peculiar procedures in the Office of the Ombudsman. This book casts illumination on these important legal concepts. The book also discusses specific offenses cognizable by the Ombudsman. This is, therefore, a complete treatise on this very important branch of administrative and criminal law.
