Responding to the challenge of providing social workers as well as students with a simple and yet comprehensive discussion on selected child and family laws relative to social work practice, the author made this attempt in textbook writing. He attempted to provide illustrations on various problems encountered by social workers in handling cases of children and families considering that the provisions enunciated in the different laws are very much technical that one section must be correlated to another in order to convey its legal interpretation.
Much has been written about the different laws on children and families, and this book entitled “Salient Features on Selected Child and Family Laws: A Social Worker’s Guide”, is published by the author as a guide for social workers, future social workers, and students. This is also especially designed to those Field Instruction students who are assigned in a child-placing or child-caring agencies, in the performance of their duties, which is to protect the children, their families, and its members from any threats detrimental to their personal safety and security. This may also be a resource material for new lawyers who initially handle cases of children and families such as adoption, guardianship, children in conflict with the laws, among others.
