Atty. Mangontawar M. Gubat

Atty. Mangontawar M. Gubat holds the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Management (2003), Master in Public Administration (1998), Bachelor of Laws (cum laude) (1989), and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Accounting (1984), all from Mindanao State University, Marawi City. His teaching career included the following: Associate Professor, Mindanao State University College of Law; Assistant Professor in accounting, Jamiatul Philippine Al-Islamia; and Lecturer, MSU-IIT College of Law Extension Classes, MSU College of Business Administration; and Mindanao School of Business Administration (now defunct). In the government service, he had held the positions of College Secretary, Public Attorney II, Information Officer II, and Staff Writer. Presently, he is Provincial Prosecutor II (2nd Assistant Provincial Prosecutor) of the Province of Lanao del Norte. He continues to teach as professorial lecturer at MSU College of Law handling Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure and Procedure in the Shari’a Courts. He is author of “The 1997 Rules of Civil Procedure Annotated” (834 pages) and “Reviewer in Islamic Procedure and Evidence” (195 pages). He had also written various articles published in the Mindanao Law Journal, Mindanao Varsitarian. Shura, Pagsibol, and Alumni Monitor where he had the privilege of serving in different capacities. He is a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Beta Sigma Lambda Exclusive Law Fraternity. As a student, he graduated law as class salutatorian and college leadership awardee. He is a recipient of dean’s award for academic excellence (1981), a class valedictorian (1975), and finalist to the 1989 Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines. Atty. Gubat is a native of Marantao, Lanao del Sur. He is the third son of DECS Superintendent Mabandes A. Gubat and Hadja Nasriyyah Matara Domaub Mapasang.
