Dr. Cyruz P. Tuppal

Dr. Cyruz P. Tuppal is a registered nurse, midwife, licensed professional teacher, and nurse theorist with extensive academic and professional achievements. He is the author of the Theory of Communion-in-Caring, published in the Scandinavian Journal of Caring Sciences following his participation in advanced seminars at the Ann Boykin Institute for the Advancement of Caring at Florida Atlantic University.

Dr. Tuppal earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Administration from Concordia College. He completed his Doctor of Management Science at the Technological University of the Philippines. He then pursued higher education in nursing, earning a Doctor of Nursing Science and bridging to a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science at St. Paul University Philippines System.

In addition to his nursing qualifications, Dr. Tuppal holds multiple master’s degrees: a Master of Arts in Special Education, majoring in Teaching Hearing Impaired and Developmental Disabilities from Manuel L. Quezon University; a Master of Hospital Administration from PHINMA Education Network–St. Jude College Inc., and dual Master of Business Administration degrees in International Business and International Management from European University Business School in Geneva, Switzerland, and Roehampton University in the UK, where he graduated cum laude. He also completed a Diploma in Research Development and Management from the University of the Philippines Open University.

Dr. Tuppal earned his Juris Doctor while serving as President of the Student Council at St. Dominic Savio College, School of Law. He is a doctoral candidate in Public Administration at the National College of Public Administration and Governance, University of the Philippines Diliman.

Dr. Tuppal has held diverse roles in both academia and clinical practice, including teaching graduate programs in nursing, midwifery, public health, and allied health disciplines. He has served as a community health nurse, emergency nurse, teacher for children with special needs, academic and clinical coordinator, research university coordinator, professor, graduate school program coordinator, and associate dean for academic affairs and scientific research. He was also the pioneering Dean of the College of Nursing at Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna in Cabuyao, Laguna.

An active member of numerous national and international organizations, Dr. Tuppal’s affiliations include the Philippine Nurses Association, Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society, International Network for Doctoral Education in Nursing, International Association for Nursing Philosophy, International Association for Human Caring, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, International AIDS Society, and the Association of Nurses for AIDS Care.

Dr. Tuppal is also a Fellow of Lead4R at the University of the Philippines Diliman, a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), and a Certified Global Nurse Consultant (CGNC) under the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and CGFNS International Inc.

His exemplary career reflects a commitment to advancing nursing education, research, leadership, and service, continually raising the standards of healthcare and education both nationally and globally.
