Description
The subject Special Penal Laws (SPLs) was not part of the old law curriculum. Under the old curriculum, the study of criminal law was only limited to Revised Penal Code, that is, Criminal Law 1 deals with Book 1 of the Code while Criminal Law 2 touches on specific felonies of Book 2. With the influx of the new special penal laws, the new curriculum prescribes Special Penal Laws as an elective 2-unit subject. The inclusion of this subject in the curriculum underscores its importance in the study of criminal law in preparation for the bar examinations.
