This book is intended to be the first of a series of books on the cases and/or laws handled by the Family Court pursuant to Republic Act No. 8369, otherwise known as the Family Courts Act of 1997.
Under the said Republic Act No. 8369, the Family Court has exclusive jurisdiction over child and family cases (including domestic violence, trafficking, and cybercrimes).
Marriage dissolution, especially on the relatively new, really novel,1 ground of psychological incapacity, under Article 36 of The Family Code, continues to be among the most common cases handled by the Family Courts.
