What to expect from this book…?
For the information of our first-time readers. This is the third book in a series of my books on empowerment. First published was Empowering the Pinoy PWDs in 2018; second was Empowering the Abused Men in 2019. Thus, this is the third one entitled Empowering the Elderly.
Chapter I gives some general background about concepts, prevailing elderly issues and statistics, both global and local; and collation of existing government policies and support to the older people.
Chapter II probes the minds of some elderly, the possibility of abuse and the signs of abuse. It also presents actual snapshot accounts of selected elderly gathered mostly from published materials.
Chapter III delves closer at the elderly health issues and concerns. It also digs deeper into the status of existing family and institutional care, both public and private.
