This book on Wills and Succession is being presented by the author in the format of which he has been known: in a sequential manner that disregards the arrangement of the Civil Code which focuses more on the subject.
This book starts off with a definition of Succession in order to set the table. As part of this text’s intention to disregard the arrangement of the Civil Code and focus on the subject (as mentioned above), the individual who shall succeed shall be discussed thereafter consisting of the following topics: 1) the capacity to succeed by will or intestacy; 2) relationship; and 3) Compulsory heirs.

A Voice in the Wilderness: A Path to Wholeness
I’ve sat with individuals who have walked this trail, witnessed the strength it acquires to simply inhale after such a violation. I’ve seen how the world repeatedly turn their back, leaving survivors to navigate a field of pain alone. This book is conceived from that observation, from that deep yearning to illumine the path through the wilderness.
Imagine this book as a symphony of healing, a composition in three distinct movements. The first movement, ‘The Wilderness of Trauma,’ will be a somber exploration of the depths of pain, a confrontation with the harsh realities of sexual assault. The second movement, ‘Finding a Voice in the Wilderness,’ will be a crescendo of courage, a gathering of voices that rise from the ashes of violation, guided by the timeless melodies of biblical wisdom.

HEARTSONG: Mga Tulang sa Puso Nagmula
In these poems, Ruben deals with both personal and social topics, from his beloved wife’s recent passing to the Pinoy’s legendary patience. Poetry’s magic, of course, is that it transmutes the personal into the social, and the social into the personal, so that the poet’s loss becomes our own, and our sentiments in turn become enlarged into our people’s.

Law on Corporate Securities
This humble work has a two-fold purpose: the first one is a bit of nostalgia for both of us, when we used to work with the Securities and Exchange Commission, which laid the basis of our understanding and knowledge on Corporation and Securities Law. We were blessed and benefited by our stints with the SEC that this is a way to express our gratitude and to translate our experience into this book on corporate securities.
The second purpose, on the other hand, is the ultimate reason on writing this book on Corporate Securities. The student of law may be quite intimidated by the concept of Securities Regulation, considering that the concepts involved here are technical and statistical (particularly actuarial) in nature. Likewise, the layman is exposed in the trading of securities, and most of the time, is unwary of the risks and legalities in their investments in which their purpose is to gain profits may be jeopardized by their lack of legal knowledge before dealing with securities transactions.

The author also included a new chapter on National Economy and Patrimony, which deserves a separate and distinct discussion of its own.

IUS GENTIUM: Notes in Public International Law
Increasing relations between States — whether military alliances, economic partnerships and other links — have made rules of a transnational, international character indispensable. The rise of legal regimes — the World Trade Organization, the community law of the European Union, the whole regime of international criminal law — are three of many examples. There is also no doubt that the institutions of international law have become prominent. In the Philippines, the investigation of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte by the International Criminal Court in connection with the ruthless “war on drugs” during his administration has brought the Court to the attention of many Filipinos. The Arbitral Award that gave the Philippines a resounding victory of the Peoples Republic of China have also initiated many Filipinos to the workings of dispute resolution under the Convention on the Law of the Sea. The laudable decision of Finland and Sweden to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization despite Russia’s saber-rattling, and the willingness of the European Union to consider the membership of Georgia highlight the prominence of new forms of international legal personality.
