Philippine Laws on Women (With Notes and Cases) provides a compilation of these laws covering a wide range of legal issues and concerns. Included in this collection are the following significant pieces of legislation, among many others: The Magna Carta of Women which comprehensively addresses women’s human rights; the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act which provides legal protection to women and their children from various forms of violence; the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act which protects and supports trafficked persons and penalizes trafficking in persons as defined therein; the Safe Spaces Act which addresses gender-based sexual harassment in streets, public spaces, online, workplaces, and educational institutions; the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act which promotes breastfeeding by ensuring that working mothers have access to safe and comfortable lactation stations in the workplace, among others; the 105-Day Expanded Maternity Leave Law recognizing women’s maternal function as a social responsibility by expanding the maternity leave period granted to women workers; the Women in Development and Nation Building Act which confers equal rights and opportunities for both women and men in workplaces, including the government, and in educational institutions; and the Rape Victim Assistance and Protection Act mandating the establishment of crisis centers in every province and city to provide assistance to rape survivors.
