Since then, the Supreme Court had promulgated numerous rulings on special penal laws. These decisions have strong impact upon members of the legal profession and the law students as well. For instance, the guidelines in determining discernment under R.A. No. 9344 have already been laid down in an En Banc decision of CICLXXX v. People (2023). The rules on plea bargaining in drug cases under R.A. No. 9165 were discussed in People v. Montierro (2022) and reiterated in Aquino v. People and People v. Lo (2025). In addition to these landmark rulings, the Court also rendered a barrage of cases on Trafficking-in-Person Act (R.A. No. 9028, as amended). For the first time, the Court had rendered a decision on the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act (R.A. No. 9995) in the case of XXX261049 v. People (2023).
