The decades of change and with the prevailing trends, views, and attitudes regarding the practice of law during the said period and in relation to the evolving digital social culture in our society today, the Supreme Court took notice of the timely and bona fide need to revise the Code of Professional Responsibility and to take into account these role changes, recent developments and technological trends which impact the experience and behavior of members of the Philippine Bar mostly through social media and the internet”. The High Court observed the significant changes on the roles of the modern day lawyers that has expanded and shifted from advocates to peacemakers, from solicitors to specialists, and from counterparts to collaborators.
