The “Must Know” Basic Key Concepts in Taxation (For Law Students)
I prepared this book to reiterate the MUST KNOW basic concepts in Taxation based on decided cases of the Supreme Court and the Court of Tax Appeals in the hope that students will seriously learn this subject with ease because taxation is one of the most difficult subjects in the BAR and BOARD examination.
Taxation is very important to all of us. It is something we cannot live without, like death it is the only thing certain in our life. Taxation is not only part of our existence, but it interferes with our earnings and disposable income, property rights, obligations and relationship with our government.

The Law on Income Taxation in the Philippines
Republic Act (R.A.) No. 11976 or the Ease of Paying Taxes (EOPT) Act is an important piece of legislation which ensures that taxpayers will be able to pay their taxes in the most convenient way. The EOPT Act also institutionalizes administrative efficiency which the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) should strive in the collection of taxes. Together with the EOPT Act and other related laws such as R.A. 12214 or the Capital Markets Efficiency Promotions Act (CMEPA) which advocates a simpler, fairer, and competitive tax system for capital markets, this edition will provide updates on Income Taxation in the country. Revenue issuances from the BIR until June 30, 2025 were also incorporated in book. The latest Philippine Supreme Court decisions on relevant tax cases until June 30, 2025 together with the landmark cases were also discussed in this book. Philippine Bar Examination Questions on Income Taxation for the years 2010 to 2024 with suggested answers from the author were also included in this book.

The Joys of Writing
Writing is a human activity. At any one time, we may be busy writing something: letters, emails, memos, notes, journals. In fact, it is difficult to imagine a life without writing. Writing is necessary. And it can also be enjoyable. This book is about the joy I experience in writing, which I hope to share with my readers.

Childhood Journey: Helping Children and Teens Fight Their Battles
This is the second book produced by the child and adolescent psychiatrists of the Philippines, with the first as CAPPI (Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists of the Philippines, Inc) and now as PSCAP (Philippine Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry). It is the product of many persons who labored through a variety of topics. Although not originally intended as such, this publication could very well be a response to the ongoing mental health crisis among children and adolescents and their families. I hope the readers will find the insights in this volume to be helpful and enlightening.

Optometry Law, Ethics, Jurisprudence and Practice Management
It has been my dream to come up with this book ever since becoming the first (presumably) Filipino optometrist-lawyer. And thank God, after twenty-four years, the book of my dreams is finally here!
This book humbly explains the laws that regulate and affect the practice and the person. I hope that the students, reviewees, and optometrists find this book useful in their studies, in their preparation for the board examinations, and in their practice, respectively.

Dreams We Once Lost
This is the lost dream. As simple as that.
But I do not trust my memory too well. I’m terrible at remembering the little details, but sometimes, the little details are the only parts I could remember. I sought answers for years. Until this day, I still ask the same questions.
Whenever I cannot sleep at night, I fabricate scenarios in my head that never existed. I alter the story because of pain, or maybe I do it because of its absence. It’s a paradox which will take a lifetime for me to solve.

The English Ibanag-Ilocano Dictionary
This edition was launched to address the clamor of some users of the recently published book by the lead author, The Pamplona Ibanag-English Dictionary (2022), more specifically the non-Ibanag speakers who are very interested to learn and speak the Ibanag language with proficiency. These users strongly suggested to add a portion of the book where English is the basic reference in order to enhance their learning of this wonderful language. Thus, we are addressing this clamor by incorporating this portion to make them become fluent in writing and reading any Ibanag literature. Like the 2022 maiden edition, the primary aim of the writers is to sustain the use of Ibanag and Ilocano dialects in every sphere of daily activities specially among the young, the new generation, and to see to it that the mother tongues will never vanish in the northern Philippines.

From C.O.P.A.R to C.O.S.M.O.S. (Caring-Based Organizing Systems for Multidimensional Solidarity)
This book, From COPAR to COSMOS, captures that very spirit. It is not a mere revision of CO-PAR—it is its rebirth. It expands the model into new dimensions: cultural resilience, ecological responsibility, digital innovation, and spiritual sustainability. The COSMOS framework introduces phases that go beyond implementation, emphasizing pre-entry ethical grounding and post-phase resilience building. It blends indigenous knowledge systems, participatory technologies, interdisciplinary collaboration, and transformative learning into a circular, non-linear model that reflects the complexity of real-life community engagement. This book honors the past while boldly charting the future.

An Introduction to Healthcare and Midwifery Practice
In a time when the demands on healthcare education are rapidly evolving, From Classroom to Clinic: An Introduction to Healthcare and Midwifery Practice arrives as both a timely resource and a transformative guide. As healthcare systems worldwide confront increasing complexity, disparities, and a renewed focus on community-centered care, this book serves as a bridge between academic knowledge and clinical practice, particularly for emerging midwives and allied healthcare professionals. The journey from student to practitioner is neither linear nor passive—it requires a dynamic fusion of theory, ethics, skill acquisition, emotional maturity, and professional identity. This text responds to that challenge by anchoring readers in the foundational concepts while also preparing them for the fluid, real-world contexts of maternal, newborn, and community care.

Community Health Service Management
Community health is the beating heart of an equitable society. It is the terrain where the principles of justice, solidarity, and empathy converge with the realities of everyday life—where health is not a distant promise but a lived, collective experience. In the world of public health, we are constantly reminded that hospitals and health centers, while essential, are not the first line of defense. Rather, it is the people—organized, informed, and empowered—who represent the most powerful force for sustainable health and well-being.

Contemporary Practices in Administration and Supervision
The profession of midwifery stands at a vital crossroads in global healthcare, increasingly recognized as both a cornerstone of maternal and neonatal health and a dynamic force within the broader systems of primary health care. As the world transitions into new paradigms of leadership, innovation, and systems thinking, there is an urgent need to equip midwives not only with clinical competencies but also with the acumen of administration, the vision of leadership, and the insight of supervision. This book, Contemporary Practices in Administration and Supervision in Midwifery, is both timely and transformative.

Writing, Presenting, and Applying Evidence: A Companion to Midwifery Research 2
In Writing, Presenting, and Applying Evidence: A Companion to Midwifery Research 2, we bring together our collective experiences as midwifery educators, researchers, students, and advocates working across diverse Philippine settings. From rural birthing homes in Ilocos to community health stations in Mindanao, from state universities to private training institutions, this book is the fruit of countless conversations, workshops, late-night mentoring sessions, ethical dilemmas, and moments of collective learning. It was born from lived realities and a shared belief: that research is not just a scholarly requirement—it is a profound form of care.

Midwifery Entrepreneurship in the Age of AI
The idea for this book took root not in a conference room or research lab, but in a quiet moment while observing a midwife kneel on the floor beside a woman in labor—in a home far from any hospital, with only candlelight and the sound of crickets outside. There was no machine humming, no monitors beeping. Just presence, skill, and compassion. It was there, in that ordinary yet sacred moment, that I realized something transformative: midwives are the most underrecognized leaders in our healthcare systems—and perhaps the most important ones to listen to when imagining new futures.

Civil Law is a Journey: The Guide
We do not, by this work, pretend to be great civilists like Justices J.B.L. Reyes, Jose Vitug, and Eduardo Caguioa, let alone the teacher of us all, Dr. Arturo Tolentino. We just want to present the law in an understandable manner. We do not want this work to be treated as a substitute for the extensive commentaries of the great civilists we honor. Neither is this book intended to guess bar exam questions.

Special Penal Laws: Concepts and Jurisprudence (Volume 1)
This is the third issuance of this book since its maiden publication. The last revision was made in 2021- right after the lifting of the Covid virus pandemic. Since then, the Supreme Court had promulgated numerous rulings on special penal laws. These decisions have strong impact upon members of the legal profession and the law students as well. For instance, the guidelines in determining discernment under R.A. No. 9344 have already been laid down in an En Banc decision of CICLXXX v. People (2023). The rules on plea bargaining in drug cases under R.A. No. 9165 were discussed in People v. Montierro (2022) and reiterated in Aquino v. People and People v. Lo (2025). In addition to these landmark rulings, the Court also rendered a barrage of cases on Trafficking-in-Person Act (R.A. No. 9028, as amended). For the first time, the Court had rendered a decision on the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act (R.A. No. 9995) in the case of XXX261049 v. People (2023).
